The Brian Jonestown Massacre wurde 1990 in San Francisco gegründet. Der Name ist eine Zusammensetzung aus Brian Jones - als Tribut an den legendären Rolling Stones-Gitarristen - und Sektenführer Jim Jones, welcher das sogenannte Jonestown Massacre zu verantworten hatte. Knapp 40 verschiedene Mitglieder zählte TBJM innerhalb der ersten fünf Jahre, mit Anton Newcombe als einzige Konstante.

Mehr als 20 Alben, unzählige Singles und diverser Personalwechsel später geht es unbeirrbar weiter nach vorne. In 2020 & 2021 wurden mehr als 50 Songs in Antons Berliner Studio aufgenommen. Entsprechend erschienen zwei neue Alben: "Fire Doesn't Grow On Trees" (2022) und "The Future Is Your Past" (2023). Zuletzt war die Band im Frühjahr 2023 auf Tour in Deutschland zu erleben.
