Stereolab ist eine anglo-französische Avant-Pop-Band, die 1990 in London gegründet wurde. Die Band besteht im Kern aus Tim Gane (Gitarre, Keyboard) und Lætitia Sadier (Gesang, Keyboard, Gitarre), die als Songwriting-Duo und Konstanten über die vielen Wechsel im Lineup blieben. Ihre Musik kombiniert Einflüsse aus Krautrock, Lounge und Popmusik der 1960er Jahre, die oft einen sich wiederholenden Motorik-Beat und die Verwendung elektronischer Vintage-Keyboards beinhaltet. Inhaltlich werden politische und philosophische Themen behandelt, welche von den surrealistischen und situationistischen (Kunst-)Bewegungen inspiriert sind; ihr Sound ist zudem auch durch Funk, Jazz und brasilianische Musik geprägt, und so waren sie eine der ersten Bands, deren Stil als "Post-Rock" bezeichnet wurde. Das Quartett gilt somit als eine der innovativsten und einflussreichsten Gruppen der 1990er Jahre. Im Jahr 2009 gab die Band eine Pause auf unbestimmte Zeit bekannt, seit 2019 ist Stereolab wieder aktiv.
