About

The Jüdisches Theaterschiff MS Goldberg will welcome you from June 2024 on

Whether through Jewish authors, composers, musicians, actors, directors or Jewish themes - Berlin was once the "Jewish city of theater and music", but also the center of the decision of the greatest break in civilization in the history of mankind. When we "set sail" with our Jüdisches Theaterschiff MS Goldberg, we want to let well-known and forgotten stars, but also new ones, glitter, remind us of the lost, celebrate what we have in common and give a home to the new. Because, in the good old Talmudic manner, we rely on exchange, mutual inspiration and the mutual acceptance of minorities. We see this as an important contribution against anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia.

We invite Berliners and visitors to come on board, let a fresh intellectual breeze blow through your nose and concise content from historical and living Authors and new perspectives for a multicultural society - whether in the form of plays, readings, themed revues, concerts, cinema, panel discussions or experimental forms of presentation, which you will experience with us. We are a team of people with many years of experience in the fields of theater and music, and our multi-genre concept appeals to a wide audience, regardless of whether it is Jewish or non-Jewish, young or old, and whatever their level of education. And no matter where, whether at our home port in Spandau or another venue. We are also excited, because in the field of tension between classic, forward-looking, belonging and questioning it, we can well imagine that our mobile stage will also create a space that opens up new perspectives depending on the anchor location. Whether Shakespeare's »Merchant of Venice« is performed in front of the Federal Chancellery or in Oberschöneweide, a new Israeli dance theater in Spandau or in the »living room« of Berlin's Israeli community, Neuköln - this brings a dimension to the reception of the work that can only be achieved by the »Goldberg « is possible and which we are already looking forward to.
